Can AI reconcile my bank statement with my bookkeeping records?
Yes. Export both lists, put them in one workbook and ask AI to match them and list every gap. As of October 2026, Copilot in Excel has new accounting skills for reconciling accounts, available in Frontier preview. If you don't have those, ChatGPT or Claude can do the same match when you attach both files. Either way, you still review each flagged item and make the fix in your own bookkeeping app.

The prompt that gets copied
This workbook has two sheets: Bank (my bank transactions for [STATEMENT MONTH, e.g. October 2026]) and Books (what I recorded in [BOOKKEEPING APP, e.g. my bookkeeping app]). Reconcile them. Match each bank line to a book entry by amount and date, allowing [DATE WINDOW, e.g. 3 days] of difference. Then make a new sheet called Gaps with four sections: in the bank but not in my books, in my books but not in the bank, amounts that don't match, and possible duplicates. For each item, show the date, description, amount and a one-line suggested fix in plain words. At the top, show the starting and ending balance on each side and the difference. Don't change the Bank or Books sheets.
Put your bank export and your bookkeeping export in one Excel workbook and ask Copilot to reconcile them. It lists what matches, what's missing and what's off, ready for you to fix.
