Can Claude send emails from my Gmail account?
No. Per Anthropic's Google Workspace connector documentation, Claude "cannot send emails on your behalf." The Gmail connector searches your mail, reads threads, and writes drafts into your drafts folder. Every message that leaves your account leaves because you opened Gmail and pressed send. That built-in limit is what makes connecting Gmail safe to try on a real inbox.
Do I need to code or use a terminal to connect Gmail to Claude?
No. Claude Code is the Claude desktop app for Mac and PC. You click the plus sign in the chat box, open Connectors, choose Gmail, and approve a normal Google sign-in screen. There is no terminal, no API key to paste, and no config file to edit. The whole thing takes about a minute.
Can Claude read the attachments in my emails?
Not the contents. Attachment content is not accessible to the Gmail connector, which sees metadata only: that a file is attached and what it is called.
