Key takeaways

  • Flip status: have the agents report to you, not the other way around.
  • Every agent posts the same 3 lines: did, needs, blocked, each specific and 1 breath long.
  • One channel, one time is what makes it a standup, not scattered updates.
  • Read it like a manager: clear blocks, answer needs, let the rest run.
  • A standup makes work visible; the decisions stay yours. The blockers and needs still take your judgment.
  • Start with your 2 busiest agents, tighten the shape, then add the rest.

Questions people ask

How is this different from an AI daily brief that reads my inbox?
A daily brief summarizes your world; it is about your inbox. A standup is your team of agents each reporting their own work, so you see progress and blockers across the whole team, not just what landed in your email.
What if an agent has nothing to report?
It still posts, with "nothing" on the lines that are empty. A missing standup is itself a signal: an agent that's gone quiet is worth a look, not a shrug.
Will this flood me with notifications?
It shouldn't. The brief tells agents to post to the standup channel and tag you only when a need or blocker actually requires you, so the board stays 1 read and the tags stay rare. As of early August 2026, Buzz hasn't shipped push notifications yet, so the standup is a channel you open on your terms.
When should the standup run?
Before your day starts, so your first read is the whole team caught up in one place. A standup that posts at random times is just scattered updates again; pick one set time and hold it.
What makes a good standup line?
Specific and short. "Did: drafted 3 posts, scheduled 1" beats "worked on content." If a line makes you open a thread to understand it, it failed its 1 job. Each line should be a single breath long.
How do I handle a busy morning with a full board?
Have an agent read the standup and hand you a 3-line summary: the decisions only you can make, the blockers to clear first, and anything gone quiet, sorted by what costs most if ignored. A full board becomes 3 things that need you.
What should I do with the standup once I read it?
Triage, not do. Clear the blocks, answer the needs, and let the rest run. If you start doing the work yourself, you skipped the point. The standup pays off only when you respond to it as a manager.
