## Can AI make me a video explaining how something is made?

Yes: give Perplexity Computer a topic and ask it to research the steps and produce a short narrated film with a source list. As of October 2026 Computer is on paid Perplexity plans and uses credits, so it suits curious learners, parents and creators who want a finished video rather than a page of text. For a quick read instead, ask the same question in a normal Perplexity search and you'll get a cited answer in seconds.

## The prompt

Fill in the parts in [square brackets], or leave them and the AI will ask you for them.

```text
Make a short explainer film, about [FILM LENGTH, e.g. 5 minutes], on how [THE THING, e.g. a pencil gets made] really works or gets made. Research it first from trustworthy technical sources such as manufacturers, engineering journals and industry bodies, and list every source at the end. Write a script that [YOUR AUDIENCE, e.g. a curious 12-year-old] can follow, step by step, with one surprising fact or common myth explained in the middle. Then produce the video with calm narration, simple diagrams and an on-screen label for each step. Keep jargon out, or explain it the first time it appears. Before you make the video, show me the outline and the source list so I can approve them.
```

## Step by step

1. Open Perplexity and start a new Computer task.
2. Paste the prompt below with your topic filled in.
3. Approve the outline and source list it shows you first.
4. Watch the finished video, then ask for a shorter or simpler cut if needed.

## What you'll get

A narrated explainer video with diagrams and labels, plus the list of sources it was built from.
